The Mayor of Italian city of Bergamo has said that Baku and Bergamo could boost economic and trade relations.

Franco Tentorio has expressed confidence the city`s relationship with Baku would further develop.

"Relations between Azerbaijani cities and Bergamo have entered a new phase," he told AzerTAc's Italy-based correspondent.

Mr. Tentorio highlighted socio-economic development of Bergamo, saying small, medium and large companies operate in the city in the fields of chemistry, weaving and manufacturing.

He said the fruitful meetings held by the Azerbaijani delegation in the city would contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

Tentorio also hailed the recent launch of a book titled "From the Caucasus to the Apennines: Azerbaijanis in the Italian resistance movement" in Bergamo.

Published by the Sandro Teti Publishing House, the book praises Azerbaijan's contribution to the Italian resistance movement during the World War II.

The book was presented in a ceremony which was co-organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy to Italy, Sandro Teti Publishing House and Bergamo Mayor`s Office.
