Friends of Azerbaijan in South Africa and Croatia-Azerbaijan Friendship Society have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen collaboration.

The document was signed by Andrija Karafilipovic, vice president of Croatia-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, and James Dey, co-founder of Friends of Azerbaijan in South Africa.

The signing ceremony was held at the office of Coordination of Croatian Friendship Societies in Zagreb.

"This is a landmark event, and we hope it will not only assist the efforts of each friendship society, but also will be the beginning of collaboration between Azerbaijani friendship societies across the world," Dey said. "I believe that a lot of profit can be gained by young friendship societies like ours from the experience of already established friendship societies across the globe."

Ines Benic, board member of Croatia-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, said the relationships between Croatia and Azerbaijan, and South Africa and Azerbaijan are developing intensively.

"Our organizations have each achieved a number of goals in our respective countries, and we believe that as friendship societies, we have a lot to learn from each other and that our efforts can assist other fellow Friendship Societies as we learn from them too", Benic said.

Friends of Azerbaijan in South Africa was established to incubate cultural relations between South Africa and Azerbaijan in 2012. The organization's main objectives are to incubate cross-awareness in the countries, enhance friendship between our countries in the fields of business, humanitarian affairs, education and culture, promote dialogue between individuals, government departments and businesses of both countries to facilitate growth of common interests, as well as to assist Azerbaijani Diaspora in South Africa and to promote and strengthen bilateral relations between South Africa and Azerbaijan.
