President Aliyev named Man of 2013

The National Hero Chingiz Mustafayev Foundation and ANS Group of Companies have elected Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as Man of 2013.

The Head of State was honored for being elected as the country's president by winning the majority of votes in the October elections, as well as for his services as chairman of the United Nations Security Council, which significantly increased Azerbaijan's international influence.

Other major achievements of the president in 2013 include ensuring Azerbaijan's joining the space nations, preserving economic development rate, playing an important role in Europe`s energy security by effectively implementing Shadeniz-2, Trans-Adriatic and Trans-Anadolu projects, ensuring simplification of visa regime with EU member-countries, and paving the way for softening the world powers' position on Iran as part of Baku's continuous and resolute policy in the region.

The Man of the Year Award was established by the National Hero Chingiz Mustafayev Foundation and ANS Group of Companies in 2001. It is granted as a rule to the persons distinguished with patriotism and services before the nation. The president has already been given the award for several years.

The recipients include National Leader Heydar Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Caucasus Clerical Office Chairman Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazada, and Former Japanese Ambassador in Baku Toshiyuki Fujiwara.
