World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day marked in Netherlands

Azerbaijan`s Embassy in the Netherlands has organized a reception to mark the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Addressing the event, ambassador Mir-Hamza Afandiyev spoke of the history of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, announced by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The diplomat stressed the significance of the Solidarity Day in terms of strengthening activities and relations of diaspora organizations.

Afandiyev said solidarity of Azerbaijanis of the world today was manifested not only in the emotional feelings and sensations, but more - in the national and political unity, practical steps and concrete results, filled with real content

The process of further strengthening the solidarity between Azerbaijanis and turning Diaspora structures into an effective force was continuing successfully, he noted.

He highlighted the role of diaspora organizations in ensuring the rights of his compatriots living in foreign countries, the dissemination of objective information about Azerbaijan and protection of the public interest has risen significantly.

Afandiyev said Azerbaijan`s government, as always, would continue to support diaspora organizations in this direction.

"Successive reforms, undertaken in Azerbaijan by President Ilham Aliyev on the basis of the policy, planned by national leader Heydar Aliyev, have now led to progressive changes in all spheres, our country embarked on a path of dynamic development," the ambassador said.

A congratulatory message of President Aliyev to world Azerbaijanis was read out in the event, which was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations, including Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress, Azerbaijan-Turk Cultural Center, "Ana Vatan" Union of Azerbaijani Women in the Netherlands.

The event also featured a concert.
