World Bank plans to hold the 3rd High Level Economic Policy Forum in Baku in fall 2014.

The news was announced by Head of the WB Baku office Larisa Leshchenko on December 2.

"It is still early to talk about dates, but we have already started to discuss areas, forum topics, and list of people who will be invited," she said.

"The forum will probably be held in autumn next year. The exact program has not been approved yet, but issues related to the diversification of Azerbaijan's economy, search for a new model of economic growth, the development of human factors, and institutional development will probably be discussed."

Leshchenko said WB top management is expected to participate in the forum.

Where development of government policies is concerned, Azerbaijan has taken the ideas expressed at the 2nd High Level Economic Policy Forum, held in Baku on March 5-6, 2012, into account.

The main purpose of the forum was to provide a platform for a detailed discussion of Azerbaijan's future economic policy, where the main role will be played by the non-oil sector.

During the first forum on Azerbaijan's long-term economic development, held on October 21, 2009, an agreement was reached to prepare a plan of activities for economic diversification and hold a new forum to assess progress and results.

The forum also created an opportunity to start constructive dialogues on the diversification of Azerbaijan's economy.

Azerbaijan joined the World Bank in 1992.
