Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

On this auspicious day, the majority of Muslims, making a sacrifice in the name of God, experience the joy of closeness to Allah and attachment to moral values, demonstrate a willingness to sacrifice everything for the sake of noble ideas.

"Eid al-Adha ceremonies annually performed in Azerbaijan with a great sense of joy urge people to live in peace and tranquillity, become a triumph of national and spiritual solidarity, humanity and brotherhood in our society.

"My dear sisters and brothers. Wishing the prayers you make on these days for prosperity and welfare of our people and state as well as sacrifices to be accepted by Almighty, I express once again my sincere congratulations to each of you. May this bright holiday bring happiness and abundance to your families.

Happy Eid al-Adha!"
