Azerbaijan, European Parliament mull election issues
Azerbaijan`s Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov met a delegation of the European Parliament led by head of the election observation mission for the monitoring of presidential election in Azerbaijan Pino Arlacchi on October 7,AzerTag state news agency reported.
At the meeting, Asadov said this is the 7th presidential election in Azerbaijan, adding each election is accompanied by the increase in experience.
He said that the upcoming presidential election will be monitored by nearly 40,000 observers, including 1,300 with international status.
The European MPs hailed Azerbaijan`s cooperation with the European Union and European Parliament as useful.
The MPs also touched upon the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, adding the issue is constantly raised at the organization`s meetings.
They said withdrawal of Armenian Armed Forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories was featured in all documents adopted by the European Parliament.
