Two outlaws killed in skirmish
Two residents of the Nardaran settlement of Baku wanted on charges
of murder, illegal possession of arms and extortion were killed in
a skirmish with the police on Tuesday.
An official of the Sabunchu district police department, Azer Jahangirov, said both men were armed. They defied the police officers' call to surrender and lay down their weapons, throwing a hand grenade and opening fire at the law enforcers.
"The police had to open fire. Both individuals died as a result. Two submachine guns were impounded," Jahangirov said.
Amirkhan Jabbarov and his son, Zulfugar, had killed a senior Nardaran police officer and a resident of the settlement. The two have repeatedly resisted the police and escaped.
