Armenian troops violate ceasefire in several directions

The Armenian armed forces opened fire at positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces located at the nameless heights of Gedebey region from the positions located located at the nameless heights in Armenia's Krasnoselski region on September 26-27, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

Also, Azerbaijani Armed Forces were fired from the positions located near villages of Tapgaragoyunlu of Goranboy region, Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli of Fizuli region, and from the positions at the nameless heights of Gedebey region.

The Defense Ministry reported that the Armenians were silenced with a retail fire.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million displaced by the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but Armenia has continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the US have produced no results so far.
