Former congressman: Azerbaijan is tested ally for U.S.
The Washington Times has published an article by former congressman from the U.S. Indiana State Dan Burton, AzerTag state news agency reported.
"Azerbaijan is the only devoted ally of the U.S., which is located on the border of Russia and Iran," the article reads.
Speaking on the realities of the U.S. foreign policy, Burton calls on the U.S. Administration to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan is a valuable and tested ally for the United States," he underlined. "From counterterrorism and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to serving as a stabilizing force in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan is among America's best friends,"
Burton noted that the appointment of the U.S. high-level representative in OSCE mission is an obvious sample that the U.S. backs regional stability.
Burton has worked for decades at the U.S. Congress, and 30 years worked at the committee for foreign affairs at the House of Representatives.
