Emergency worker saves woman from suicide
A 28-year-old woman attempted to commit suicide by jumping off a five-storied building in the Narimanov district of Baku on Monday but her life was saved. Jamila Hasanova was rescued by emergency worker Emin Nasirov.
Deputy Minister of Emergencies, Maj.-Gen. Faig Taghizada told reporters that Hasanova was given some sparkling water with sedatives to counter her suicide attempt. The woman, who figured out the trick and was starting to feel fatigue, tried to jump off the roof straight away. But Nasirov threw himself toward her and managed to restrain the motion.
Hasanova was taken to a psyche and neurology hospital.
Hasanova had climbed to the roof of a building across the one where her fiancee lives in the early morning hours. Despite lengthy consultations carried out by psychology counselors, she had not given up the idea of killing herself due to problems with her fiancee.
