President Aliyev visits Azerbaijani northern regions - UPDATE

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the country's northern region Ismayilli on August 14.

The Head of State laid flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city centre. Head of Ismayilli Executive Authorities Mirdamet Gasimov told the president about conditions created at the central park of culture and recreation after national leader Heydar Aliyev.

President Aliyev inaugurated Ismayilli city bus station during the visit. The president was informed that construction of the bus station complex started in 2013. The complex occupies a total area of 282 square meters.

The station has a waiting hall with the total area of 134 square meters, and public catering and medical rooms. The facility will employ 22 people.

President Aliyev also attended a ceremony of pumping drinking water to Ismayilli city.

The Head of State first met with the local public, and congratulated them on the remarkable event.

Speaking on behalf of the public of Ismayilli region, director of the secondary school in the village of Talistan, Aydin Azizov expressed gratitude to the president for attention to the development of Ismayilli.

Chairman of the Irrigation and Water Management Open Stock Company Ahmed Ahmedzade informed the President about the work carried out under the Second National Project on water and sanitation services, noting that the construction work had been carried out by the companies with extensive experience in this field.

Given that the population of the Ismailly city in 2030 will exceed 28,000 people, waters of local rivers located on the territory of the Giz Galasi (Maiden Tower) will be used to provide drinking water to the district center.

The construction of the water intake plant and water main with 355 mm in diameter and 11 km in length has been completed in the area. A reservoir, a building for chlorination and storage to reduce the pressure were also built. The project ensures uninterrupted supply of 180 liters of drinking water per person a day.

Construction and installation work has been carried out with high quality. As a result, all the residential apartments, as well as public and social facilities in Ismailli, most of the villages Mijan, Ismailly and Talistan were provided with drinking water and are connected to the sewerage network.

President Aliyev also inaugurated a sewing factory in Ismayilli region.

The facility has an administrative building, a training room and a canteen. The factory was provided with modern equipment made in Japan, China, Russia, Germany and Turkey. The facility will employ 104 people in two shifts.

President Aliyev chatted with the factory`s staff.

He also attended the opening of the Ivanovka-Hajihatamli-Mollaisagli highway as part of his visit. The Azerbaijani President tested the highway by driving a car.

The highway links seven settlements with the total population of 6,000 people. The construction of the 29.5 km long-highway cost 8,526,000 manats.

The Azerbaijani President also opened Ismayilli-1 Hydroelectric Power Station.

President of Azerenerji Etibar Pirverdiyev informed the Head of State about the hydroelectric power station.

The facility has three hydro turbines, three hydro generators, and will employ 12 people at the initial stage. The facility`s total capacity is 3,200 kWh of electricity. The foundation stone for the power station was laid in 2011. Construction was carried out by local Azenco company.

Following visit to the northern part of the country, President Aliyev arrived in Gabala region on August 14.

The Head of State started his visit by placing flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city centre.

Head of Gabala Executive Authorities Sabuhi Abdullayev told the President about conditions created at the Heydar Aliyev Park.

The President also attended a ceremony to open the Agro-Complex Gabala Ltd as part of his visit to Gabala.

President Aliyev was informed that agro-industrial complex, whose total area is 20 ha, cost AZN 25 million. The complex was built at the government-provided preferential loan. The National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support of the Ministry of Economic Development allocated AZN 14 million for construction of the complex. The enterprise employs more than 200 people.

President Aliyev appraised the conditions created at the complex.

The president inaugurated the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center in Gabala.

Prior to the opening ceremony, the Azerbaijani leader met residents of the district.

On behalf of residents, Arifa Babayeva thanked the President for his attention to development of Gabala.

The Azerbaijani president was informed that all conditions had been created here for holding international events.

The 1,200-seat Center is situated on the bank of the Garachay River and covers a total area of 8.5 hectares.

Construction of the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center started in May, 2012 and ended in July, 2013.

The three-storey building of the facility has halls, a 350-seat restaurant, administrative rooms, 6 towers, a 13 meter high-dome, and a 1,200 seat-conference hall, VIP and security rooms, a parking, and a press center.

President Aliyev also attended the opening of the Qafqaz Karvansaray hotel complex in Gabala.

The facility covers a total area of 5 hectares. Construction of the hotel complex started in May, 2012 and ended in August, 2013. The four-storey complex has a 150-seat restaurant, conference and meeting halls, a 44 car-parking lot, a swimming pool, a barber shop, a beauty salon, two Turkish bathes, two SPAs, two gyms, a billiard hall, a tennis hall, two saunas and massage rooms. There are 159 rooms, including six king size ones. The Qafqaz Karvansaray hotel complex will employ 120 people.

The president cut a ribbon to officially inaugurate a Gabala-Oghuz section of the Garamaryam-Ismayili-Shaki highway as part of his visit to Gabala on August 14.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the president that the highway was part of one of the longest tourism routes in the country. According to the Minister, the facility was 42km in length, of which 20km pass through Gabala and 22km through Oghuz districts.

According to Mammadov, redevelopment work included repair of seven reinforce concrete bridges, and construction of 13 water passages and 7 bus stations.

The Gabala-Oghuz section of the highway covers Zaraghan, Kichik Pirali, Mirzabeyli and Zargarli villages and Nij residential area.

Afterwards, President Aliyev arrived in Oghuz region on August 14.

Head of Oghuz District Executive Authorities Eyvaz Gurbanov informed the Azerbaijani leader about the construction work and landscaping in the Heydar Aliyev Park.

The construction of the Heydar Aliyev Center started in May, 2013 and will finish by the end of 2014. The three-storey building of the facility will cover a total area of 7,500 square meters.

The Center will have a parking lot, a canteen, a museum, a VIP room, an internet cafe, a 3D cinema theatre, a carpet-weaving museum, Alban Historical Museum, a conference hall, a dance studio, a design studio, an exhibition hall, two libraries, and administrative rooms. A bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev will be erected in the Center.

The Center will employ 25-30 people.

Azerbaijani President attended a ceremony to pump drinking water to the city of Oghuz.

The President met with the local public, and congratulated them on the event. Irada Mammadova, who spoke on behalf of local residents, expressed gratitude to the Head of State.

Ali Mammadov, head of the Agency on Land Restoration and Reconstruction, provided an insight into technical indicators of the facility, which was constructed under the Azerbaijani president's order. The system will ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to 19,739 people. The three-stage work included construction of water reservoirs, storages, main pipelines, labs, transformer substations, generators and other installations.

Construction of the city's sewerage system with the daily capacity of 2,500 cubic meters was also successfully completed. Water purification facilities and technological systems are at the final stage of construction.

President Aliyev also opened an orphanage-kindergarten 2 in Oghuz region on August 14.

Construction of the facility, which has every condition for children, started in 2012. The two-storey building covers a total area of 1,510 square meters. The orphanage-kindergarten will employ 26 people.

President Aliyev also visited Shaki region on August 14.

The president started his visit by laying flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city centre.

Head of Shaki District Executive Authorities Elkhan Usubov informed the president about the construction work and landscaping around the monument.

President Aliyev opened the Ashaghi Kungut-Aydinbulag highway in Shaki after reconstruction.

The Ashaghi Kungut-Aydinbulag highway is 30 km in length, and 6 meters in width. Reconstruction of the road started in December, 2012. The highway links eight residential areas with the total population of 8,000 people. Reconstruction work included the building of a bridge over the road.
