Armenia continues to violate ceasefire

Subunits of the Armenian Armed Forces shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan in Kohnegishlag village of the Aghstafa region, Gizilhajili and Kamarli villages of Gazakh region, Shikhlar and Yusifjanli villages of Agdam region, Chayli village of Tartar region, Horadiz village of Fuzuli region and nameless hills of Goranboy region on August 6-7, Azertag state news agency reported.

The Armenians were silenced with a retail fire, the Defense Ministry said.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict emerged in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since a lengthy war in the early 1990s that displaced over one million Azerbaijanis, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions. The UN Security Council's four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory have not been enforced to this day.
