Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS).
"Azerbaijan is a country of oil, therefore there is a need for such
an institution," ANAS President Akif Alizade said at the
press-conference held on July 18.
According to Alizade, now special instructions in connection with
the establishment of the institute are being considered by the
Azerbaijani Presidential Administration.
Alizade further noted that they are also exploring the possibility
of creating another institution - Institution for the Study of
World Politics.
Furthermore, ANAS President gave a positive response to the
proposal of establishing magistracy at the Science Academy, noting
appropriate orders are under development. He also noted the
necessity of creating a lyceum for talented youth.
Alizade said that ANAS will also set up an international research
laboratory.
"International relations of research centers and institutions
expand considerably today. However, at present we target creating
international scientific laboratories jointly with other countries.
We want to cooperate with UNESCO in this regard," he said.
Alizade also stressed that ANAS intends to expand the use of the
advanced information and communications technology in all its
branches.
According to Alizade, first structural changes has been done in
ANAS, in particular a number of departments were reversed and new
ones have been established.
"ANAS did not have a juridical department so far, which caused
problems while making decisions on the activity of ANAS.
Considering the need for such department, the ANAS management
decided to establish it," Alizade said.
"Innovation department has also been created in ANAS," the
president added.
Alizade also informed that the scientists who live in the dormitory
of ANAS will be rehoused to a new building located nearby.
According to Alizde, the distribution of the apartments in this
building will be under supervision of ANAS.
"Programs are developed to provide housing for young scientists,"
Alizadeh said adding that the issue of housing young scientists
with a mortgage is also on agenda.
ANAS is the main scientific organization in the Azerbaijan Republic. The ANAS was founded in 1945 in Baku city, the capital of the Azerbaijan Republic.
The Academy closely cooperates with different foreign research institutions. For instance, the scientists of the Academy are conducting joint research in particular with their Turkish colleagues in 12 problem areas. The scientists of the Academy participate in international scientific forums, workshops and symposiums communicating the outcomes of their research work to their foreign colleagues. The Academy also initiates and organizes regularly international scientific workshops and conferences in Azerbaijan.
