Sweden to open diplomatic mission in Baku
Sweden's government decided to establish a permanent representation in Azerbaijan´s capital Baku, Swedish Foreign Ministry said on June 19.
This decision was taken as part of Sweden´s efforts to strengthen its presence in the southern Caucasus region of Eastern Europe, the statement says.
Such an establishment enhances the conditions for Sweden to play an active role in the region and for Sweden to continue to be a driving force in the development of EU policy towards its eastern European neighbours in the Eastern Partnership.
The Swedish government also decided to open a diplomatic mission in Yerevan.
