Yushchenko said the development was a crucial factor for Ukraine's geo-political strategy.
He emphasized that political and economic relations during President Ilham Aliyev's tenure have expanded and bilateral trade surged.
The Ukrainian leader praised Azerbaijan's accomplishments. "We highly assess the country's successful policy in the international arena as well as its efficient activity within GUAM [a group of Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova], and decisively support the optimal proposals aiming at the organization's development put forth by President Aliyev."
Yushchenko said Azerbaijan and Ukraine had tremendous potential both for further expansion of bilateral relations and the implementation of projects of regional scale.
He said Kiev's ties with Baku would be continued as strategic partnership.
"In this sense I am proud that the Ukrainian people have a friend like Azerbaijan…Me and my counterpart Ilham Aliyev represent two great nations, and we will join effort and do everything in our power to ensure a bright future for our peoples," Yushchenko said.
He added that the South Caucasus republic has achieved rampant economic development in recent years, which benefits not only Azerbaijan but the entire region.
