Member of Azerbaijani Parliament Aydin Mirzazade wrote an open letter to the member of the National Assembly of France François Rochebloine who was present during the beating of two Azerbaijanis, Trend news agency reported on Friday.

"We became acquainted during joint activities within PACE. As representatives, each of us has repeatedly spoken about our countries' issues as well as European issues. I remember you as a serious advocate of Armenian interests. Therefore, I'm not surprised by your participation in the February 26 incident initiated by the French Bureau on Armenian issues in the National Assembly of France in Paris," Mirzazade noted in his letter.

Mirzazadeh also said he was surprised by how the French MP calmly observed the brutal beating of two Azerbaijanis by the Armenian participants of the event.

The Azerbaijani MP added that on February 26, 1992, Armenian armed forces massacred unarmed people in Khojaly.

Mirzazade believes the information written about the incident that took place in the French parliament and the Khojaly tragedy will help his French counterpart to see the true face of Armenian nationalism in a more clear way.

The National Council of Azerbaijan Youth Organizations has appealed to French Ambassador Pascal Meunier over the beating of two Azerbaijani students in Paris, Azerbaijan Telegraph Agency reported on Friday.

The appeal calls on the Ambassador to make a formal comment on the incident and urges an apology from the French government, Prime Minister and National Assembly. The appeal will be presented to the French embassy in Azerbaijani, English and French languages.

Azerbaijani students also have appealed to French President François Hollande over the beating incident in Paris, Trend news agency reported on Friday with reference to Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport.

Students drew the attention of the French president to the fact that the beating of Azerbaijanis took place in the presence of the member of the National Assembly of France François Rochebloine, who also was one of those who instigated the incident.

Azerbaijani students expressed confidence that perpetrators of violence will be brought to justice in the legally governed state.

On February 26, head of the House of Azerbaijan in Paris Mirvari Fataliyeva and Vusal Huseynov were beaten by representatives of the Armenian community of the French National Assembly, France's lower house of parliament, during an event titled '25 years after Sumgayit: the present situation and future prospects for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh', organized by the Armenian community in France.

A statement of France's Foreign Ministry released on Thursday by the French Embassy in Azerbaijan says that the ministry has condemned the act of violence committed against two Azerbaijani citizens at the National Assembly in Paris.

"France believes that resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is only possible through dialogue. France as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia," the ministry's statement says.

The Azerbaijani citizens injured in the incident have filed a complaint to the Gendarmerie, Mirvari Fataliyeva said. According to the results of forensic tests, injuries were observed on the face of Fataliyeva and on the body of Huseynov.

Both Fataliyeva and Huseynov, who live in France, joined the event to inform the participants about the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani civilians on that day in 1992 and began chanting relevant slogans. However, their slogans were met with threats.

The event participants, after closing the doors of the hall, brutally beat the Azerbaijanis. The incident occurred in the presence of several members of the French parliament and none of them took any preventive action.

Huseynov was seriously injured while trying to protect his fellow citizen from being beaten. His internal organs were injured and his rib was broken.
