U.S. ambassador visits Azerbaijani regions
A visit of U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar and his spouse started to Kurdamir region, Ganja and Mingachevir, El TV reported.
On Thursday, the ambassador arrived in Kurdamir region, where he visited the local executive power body. The ambassador was welcomed by chief executive Irshad Aliyev. The work conducted in the fields of economy, agriculture, education and culture was discussed during a meeting of the delegations.
Irshad Aliyev praised the work of the American Centre established in Kurdamir central library with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy.
In turn, the U.S. ambassador said that the purpose of his visits to the regions of Azerbaijan is to meet with the local population and students, contribute to development of US-Azerbaijan cooperation, get acquainted with the work of American centers created in regions.
The current situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution also was discussed during the meeting.
Aliyev said that the unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has a negative impact on the development of the Caucasus region.
The ambassador stressed that he will take every effort for an speedy settlement of the conflict in accordance with international law principles.
