Iranian, Azeri frontier guards to hold joint ops
Azerbaijani and Iranian frontier guards will conduct joint
operations for the first time shortly. A relevant agreement was
reached in a recent meeting of the two countries' border service
chiefs in Tehran, chairman of the Azerbaijani Border Service Elchin
Guliyev said.
Issues on fighting illegal migration, drug trafficking and smuggling were discussed in the Iranian capital.
Chairman of the Iranian Border Service Gasim Rezai stressed the need for holding such meetings on a regular basis. He said the two countries' expressing common interests during the discussions would promote further expansion of friendly relations.
The next meeting of the border service officials will be held in Baku in April 2008.
