Turkish-Azerbaijani Diaspora calls on U.S. Congress to honor 20 January victims
Turkish-Azerbaijani Diaspora in the U.S. sent an appeal to the Congress of the country, Trend news agency reported on Wednesday referring to online newspaper Turkish Actionalert.
The document calls to honor the memory of the 20 January tragedy. It also describes the tragedy in detail.
On January 19-20, 1990, sovereign Azerbaijan was invaded by Soviet troops. The tragedy claimed the lives of 132 people. 612 people were injured and 841 were illegally arrested. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed, the state and citizens suffered huge material damage.
