New Azerbaijani ambassador hands credentials to Uzbek govt

Newly appointed Azerbaijani ambassador to Uzbekistan, Huseyn Guliyev, on Monday delivered a copy of his credentials to representatives of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, Trend news agency reported.

The parties have exchanged views on the practical implementation of agreements reached during Uzbek President Islam Karimov's official visit to Azerbaijan in October 2012.

It was stressed that Uzbek-Azerbaijani dialogue is being successfully developed in almost all areas. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have signed over 100 bilateral documents.

Special attention was paid to boosting relations in the fields of economy, investment, transport and communications, and increasing and diversifying bilateral trade.

Cooperation issues between parties within international organizations were also considered at the meeting.

Previously, the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan was headed by Namig Abbasov.
