Check-up reveals widespread copyright violations
Copyright violations are rife in Azerbaijan despite steps being
taken to protect intellectual property rights, the state body
overseeing the field has revealed.
A monitoring conducted by the State Copyrights Agency established that 90-94 per cent of computer software used in the country is unlicensed. It was also ascertained that seven to eight out of 10 video-tapes are pirate products, head of the entity's department of law, Khudayat Hasanli, said.
"Most violations are committed with regard to software, audio and video recordings, as well as the publication of books," he said.
More than 60 per cent of publications are released without a proper copyright.
