The next meeting between Azerbaijani, Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers, scheduled to be held in Turkish city of Erzurum on Wednesday, was postponed, the Turkish Foreign Ministry posted in its official Twitter account on Tuesday.
According to the ministry's spokesman Selcuk Unal, the meeting was postponed due to Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's visit to New York to attend the UN General Assembly session. "In order to display Turkey's solidarity and support to the Palestinian people, Davutoglu will attend the UN General Assembly session."
Unal said Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers Elmar Mammadyarov and Ali Akbar Salehi are also expected to attend the UN assembly session.
He said the three ministers have spoken with each other over the phone on Monday and it has been decided to postpone the meeting.
According to Unal, the trilateral meeting of the ministers will be held possibly in December.
The trilateral meeting contributes to the development of cooperation in all fields on the basis of mutual benefit by discussing the bilateral and the regional issues, and to the strengthening of regional stability and security.
The last trilateral meeting of the three countries' foreign ministers was held in Nakhchivan in March and ended with the adoption of the final declaration.
