Asian political parties back Azerbaijani stance on Karabakh settlement
The Seventh General Assembly of the International Forum of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) adopted a declaration in conclusion of the two-day forum in the Azerbaijani capital Baku on Friday.
The assembly supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the UN Security Council's resolution on the Azerbaijani occupied territories, the declaration said.
ICAPP supports the efforts to ensure the rule of law in the South Caucasus and all the council's resolutions on Nagorno Karabakh.
"Azerbaijan's territorial integrity must not be violated," the declaration said.
The organization has greeted the Azerbaijani leadership and the Yeni (New) Azerbaijan party's position on promoting peace, reconciliation and security in the region.
About 200 representatives from 35 countries participated in the seventh General Assembly of ICAPP.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
