Most US citizens in Azerbaijan vote for Obama
Results of voting of U.S. citizens living in Azerbaijan have
been announced. 289 voters, who voted on U.S. presidential
elections in Azerbaijan, have preferred the current President
Barack Obama, while 91 voted for his Republican rival Mitt
Romney.
According to preliminary results, Barack Obama wins presidential
elections on the number of votes of electors, CNN reported.
At the moment, Obama has 303 electoral votes, Romney - 206. To win
a candidate needs to have 270 votes out of 538.
Elections are held in a "winner takes all" when the candidate with
a simple majority of votes in the state takes all the electoral
votes from that state. In addition, each state has a certain number
of electoral votes equal to the number of representatives in
Congress (two senators from each state, and several congressmen,
depending on the number of districts).
