Israel sees Azerbaijan as strategic partner in South Caucasus: MP
Israel's parliament and government are interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan and see the latter as a strategic partner in the South Caucasus, a Knesset (Israeli parliament) member told Azerbaijani journalists Wednesday.
Alex Miller said many opportunities are available for bilateral cooperation, and simplification of the visa regime between the two countries as well as establishment of direct contacts between business people could make an important contribution in this regard.
Azerbaijan has vast experience in the oil and gas industry and this experience could be useful to Israel, Miller said.
At present there are no problems standing in the way of the development of relations between the two countries. There are more than 50,000 Jews from Azerbaijan in Israel, who are willing to contribute to this cause.
The Azerbaijani community plays an important role in the
rapprochement of the two countries, Miller said.
"I think both countries have this desire, the governments take the
same position, and it will be realized," Miller said.
