Azeri MPs visit soldiers serving on frontline
A group of Azerbaijani MPs, human rights activists and journalists have visited soldiers serving on the contact line with Armenian armed forces in Terter region.
A delegation consisting of the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Bahar Muradova, MPs Musa Guliyev, Bakhtiyar Sadigov, Arif Rahimzadeh and Sahiba Gafarova visited the military headquarters in Terter, observed how the soldiers shoot from different caliber weapons, and later reviewed the living conditions and the condition of soldiers serving on the frontlines in the villages of Shikhli and Gapanli.
After the meeting, Bahar Muradova appreciated the morale of soldiers. She noted that Azerbaijan is developing from an economic point of view, and this development is seen in the modernization of the army.
"The funds allocated to the army in Azerbaijan, do not exceed the funds allocated from the budget to the army abroad. Now what do we do if the government of Armenia holds its unconstructive policy of their people and their country in the grip of problems? There's not only no progress, the situation is getting worse every day. They reduced the people's faith in government," the deputy speaker said.
She added that if the Supreme Commander gives the order, the Azerbaijani army is ready to perform its tasks.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. Armenian armed forces occupy 20 percent of Azerbaijan including the Nagorno Garabagh region and its seven surrounding districts, despite four standing UN resolutions on their unconditional pullout. The ceasefire accord was signed in 1994, but peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
