Police officer killed in skirmish

A police officer was killed in a skirmish in the Binaghadi district
of Baku on Thursday night.
31-year-old officer of the Surakhani police department, Ramin Zamanov, was shot dead during an operation carried out to detain Seymur Aliyev, who is accused steeling cars and illegal possession of arms, local TV channels reported.
Aliyev opened fire at the law enforcers from a rifle. He further tried to escape from the site but the police officers managed to seize him.
Investigators have ascertained that Aliyev, who is mentally ill, had stolen a Russian-made Zhiguli car in the Hovsan settlement several days ago and subsequently had an accident in the Garadagh district. He then took a hunting rifle and ammunition from his close relatives.
