Frontline monitoring cancelled

Frontline monitoring cancelled
An OSCE monitoring on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops previously scheduled in Azerbaijan's Gazakh district for Tuesday did not take place.
The field assistants of the OSCE chairman's special envoy had held a briefing at the district mayor's office where they were comprehensively informed about frequent ceasefire violations by Armenia and local residents' being unable to engage in sowing work on the frontline. The OSCE representatives further decided not to head to the contact line, the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry said.
Azad Humbatov, chief of the Gazakh Civil Defense Headquarters, has told ANS TV channel that the Foreign Ministry's special permission was required to conduct the monitoring. However, since the document was not drafted and submitted to the ministry on time, it did not take place.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994 but Armenia frequently violates the accord.
