Ruling party to nominate Aliyev for 2013 presidential election
Azerbaijan's ruling party has named President Ilham Aliyev as its candidate for the 2013 presidential elections.
"The reality is that the Azerbaijani society sees Ilham Aliyev as its candidate in the upcoming presidential elections," deputy chairman of the Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party, Ali Ahmadov, told Trend news agency.
"While expressing the will of the Azerbaijani people, the ruling party will nominate Ilham Aliyev as a presidential candidate at its congress," he said. "There is no other point of view because Azerbaijan has rapidly developed under Ilham Aliyev's leadership. The country's economy has strengthened. Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its position in the international arena. It has been recognized as one of the most influential countries in the world. This is regarded as a qualitative change in our life."
Ahmadov said all changes aimed at modernizing Azerbaijan have turned into reality during President Aliyev's tenure.
"So, Azerbaijani citizens consider electing Ilham Aliyev as president for the next five years as a decisive condition for preserving dynamic development in the future," he said. "This is consistent with the Azerbaijani people's expectations for the future. The public believes that if Ilham Aliyev is elected president for the next five years, the economy will be comprehensively developed and as a result, people's well-being will improve."
Regarding YAP's presidential election campaign, he said that the ruling party uses technology ensuring its victory within each electoral campaign, and the 2013 vote will not be an exception.
"Only a year is left until the elections," he said. "We will evaluate our life more profoundly and determine the technologies and strategy of political activity before that time."
