Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has received chairman of the committee on international relations of the House of Deputies of the Congress of Mexico Porfirio Munoz Ledo, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

Mammadyarov welcomed the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico and noted the opportunities for their expansion.

The minister said Azerbaijan is interested in developing its relations with Mexico and regular mutual visits between the two countries, which will contribute to the strengthening of relations and enhance communication between the two parliaments.

Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov said a withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories is necessary to settle the long-standing dispute and also thanked the Mexican Senate for passing a resolution expressing support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

Porfirio Munez Ledo said his country is interested in expanding its cooperation with Azerbaijan and also cited the potential for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic field.

Ledo also stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in the framework of international organizations.
