Azeri govt launches distance learning for doctors
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health has ordered to launch distance education with the use of modern information technologies on a number of majors, including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, and general surgery.
According to the schedule of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Advanced Medical Studies, refresher courses on 33 professions started in 2012/2013 academic year, the Ministry of Education said Thursday.
The classes are taught using the internet and special programs in the classrooms of the Institute in the capital Baku.
Distance learning enables saving on business trip costs and prevents doctors' long absence from work.
600 doctors will take refresher courses within a year.
