SOCAR chief awarded Georgian presidential order
Head of Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev on
Monday was awarded with the Georgian Presidential Order of
Excellence, the press service of Mikheil Saakashvili reported.
Saakashvili handed to Abdullayev the honorary order, which is
awarded for outstanding achievements in various fields.
Abdullayev and Saakashvili attended the opening ceremony of the
cultural and entertainment center "Tea House" in Marneuli. Georgian
language, computer, crafts and drawing courses were opened there.
The Georgia President spoke with Azerbaijani students in
Georgian.
"Eight years ago when I came here before the presidential election,
I had to communicate with the public in Russian," Saakashvili said.
"Very often I had to resort to the help of an interpreter. We are
united Georgian people, and everyone knows it. These people are our
strength, and the more we are integrated, the better we perceive
that Georgia is our common home, the more we will fight. I am proud
of what we have achieved in recent years."
Opening of the "Tea House" allowed to employ 70 people. Monuments
to outstanding poets Nizami and Shota Rustaveli were built in front
of it.
