Baku subway closes some stations over construction

Several stations of Baku Subway have been temporarily closed due to the construction of a new subway line.

Baku Subway told Trend news agency that closure of the subway section from 'January 20' to 'Dernegul' during August 9-13 is due to the tunnel lining in the frame of the construction of the new line.

The subway administration said the tunnel has been laid from station B-1 (near the Bus Terminal) to station B-2 (Memar Ajami-2) and it is necessary to carry out work in the area of the transitional Memar Ajami station to continue tunneling to station B-3 (near the military hospital).

"That's why it was decided to suspend the traffic of trains from the Inshaatchilar station," it said.

According to Baku Subway, the entrance to five stations -- January 20, Memar Ajami, Nasimi, Azadliq Prospekti and Dernegul -- will be closed from 10 p.m. on August 9 till 6 a.m. on August 13 due to repair work.
