Mexico to open embassy in Azerbaijan
Mexico will soon open an embassy in Azerbaijan, Mexican Senate deputy chairman Francisco Arroyo Vieyra said on a visit to Baku last week.
``Azerbaijan is an important state in the region,`` Vieyra told reporters. ``We are doing our best to open our embassy as soon as possible. Mexico is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields and in particular, education, culture, and oil and gas.``
Vieyra said the Latin American country will support Azerbaijan`s policy. He also noted that Mexico supports Baku`s position in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh.
Vieyra said a monument to Azerbaijan`s late national leader, former President Heydar Aliyev will be erected soon in a major park of the Mexican capital.
