Parliament decriminalizes physical assault
Azerbaijan`s parliament has passed legislation canceling criminal responsibility for physical assault.
According to the amendments to the Criminal Code adopted at a Milli Majlis sitting last week, a relevant clause was removed and supplemented to the Code of Administrative Offenses. Thus, those responsible for beating a person will have to pay fines instead.
Ali Huseynli, head of the parliamentary committee on legal policy and state building, who submitted a relevant bill to the legislature, said ``an international approach was taken as a basis`` while drafting the document.
