Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Vatican sign agreement
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Vatican last Friday signed an agreement On Restoration of Catacombs in Rome.
The agreement was signed in Rome by Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, and president of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archeology, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi.
In a meeting prior to the signing, Cardinal Ravasi thanked the Azerbaijani first lady for her visit to Rome and stressed the importance of the bilateral meeting with Mehriban Aliyeva. The Cardinal said the agreement was a brilliant example of interfaith and intercultural dialogue, adding that it has been in spotlight of Italian media.
The Azerbaijani first lady emphasized the significance of Azerbaijan-Vatican relations.
Aliyeva said the 20-year diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Vatican were expanding, adding that her country had always been interested in the development of bilateral cooperation.
The Azerbaijani first lady also addressed the signing ceremony.
