Security officers kill terror suspect
A suspected terrorist was killed in Baku last Wednesday in a National Security Ministry operation aimed at preventing potential threats to Azerbaijan`s national security, spokesman Arif Babayev told Trend news agency.
According to reliable sources, the suspect`s identity has not yet been established, but the man presumably arrived in Azerbaijan from Daghestan or Chechnya in Russia`s North Caucasus.
Investigation into the case is underway, and the public will be informed of relevant details after it is completed, Babayev added.
Eyewitnesses said the operation was conducted at around 11 p.m. at a five-story building located near the Gara Garayev subway station. The suspect showed armed resistance during the operation, which took place after law enforcers cordoned off the area for several hours.
