Lithuanian ex-president: Azerbaijan`s path should lead to EU accession
The end point of the path chosen by Azerbaijan should be its membership in the European Union, a former Lithuanian president, member of the European Parliament, Vytautas Landsbergis, has said on a visit to the South Caucasus republic.
Responding to questions from students of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Azerbaijan on Lithuania`s experience of EU accession, Landsbergis said this issue requires perseverance and patience.
``Some EU members are opposed to its expansion and in particular, are wary of accession of Turkey, Ukraine and Russia. However, Azerbaijan`s accession to the EU, in principle, should not cause concern,`` said Landsbergis.
On Monday, Landsbergis was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the Academy of Public Administration, according to a decision made by its Science Council.
