Armed forces meddling in politics
An Azerbaijani top official has said that armed forces must be
beyond politics.
"The idea of non-interference of the army in politics is clearly stipulated in the Constitution of Azerbaijan Republic," Chief-of-Staff of the President's Office Ramiz Mehdiyev told reporters.
Minister of Defense Safar Abiyev has said the country's armed forces would support incumbent President Ilham Aliyev in the elections to be held on October 15.
