Number of Azeri suits at European rights court up in 2011
The number of pleas filed to the European Court of Human Rights from Azerbaijan reached 532 in 2011, up from 337 reported in 2010, according to the ECHR.
361 lawsuits were filed in 2009 and 334 suits in 2008.
A total of 1,692 suits filed by Azerbaijani nationals are currently under the ECHR’s consideration, according to the court’s figures for 2011.
The European court has so far issued 42 rulings on Azerbaijan, including nine last year.
The ECtHR also listed the countries upon which it issued the most rulings last year. It handed down 159 rulings against Turkey, 121 rulings against Russia, 105 rulings against Ukraine, 69 rulings against Greece, 58 rulings against Romania, and 54 rulings against Poland.
