World should recognize Khojaly genocide, Turkish ruling party says

The world should recognise the Khojaly genocide and in particular the Turkish parliament will take serious steps to ensure recognition of the Khojaly genocide at international level, Secretary General of the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Haluk Ipek said.

"Turkey will do its best for recognition of the Khojaly genocide," Ipek said.

He noted that due to Turkey's direct efforts, some success in the issue of recognition of the Khojaly genocide has been achieved.

Armenian armed forces occupied Azerbaijan's Khojaly city and committed genocide killing hundreds of innocent people because of their ethnic background on February 26, 1992. 613 people were savagely killed, 487 were injured and 1275 people taken as hostage. The fate of many is still unknown.
