Opposition party leader Gambar ‘to step down in March’
The head of major Azerbaijani opposition party Musavat, Isa Gambar, will step down and a new chairman will be elected at a congress due March 3-4, a member of the party, founder of the Yeni (New) Musavat newspaper, Rauf Arifoglu, told Trend news agency Monday.
"It is not worth discussing the issue of Isa Gambar's keeping the top post," he said. "This question has already been resolved. A new head will be appointed."
Arifoglu said only Musavat official Arif Hajili has put forward his candidacy so far.
