Azercell expands roaming network
This time Azercell Telecom JV launched the fifth international MMS
service with Moldovian operator Moldcell and Australian provider
Telstra.
The company had kicked off the first international MMS roaming service in Azerbaijan in April 2007 with the aim of making its subscribers feel at home.
Azercell has so far signed GPRS/MMS contracts with 102 operators from 50 countries. However, the features of the MMS service differ from the GPRS/MMS service. An international MMS roaming agreement differs from the previous contracts by the opportunities provided. Customers abroad so far had the opportunity to exchange MMS messages only with Azercell subscribers and to use GPRS through the GPRS/MMS roaming service. But the international MMS roaming service allows them to exchange MMS not only within the network, but also with subscribers of the operator with which the contract has been signed.
Azercell's customers are already able to exchange MMS messages with the subscribers of Swedish TeliaSonera, as well as Georgian Geocell and Turkish Turkcell.
