Azerbaijan replaced Georgia in NATO cargo shipments to Afghanistan

Azerbaijan replaced Sky Georgia airline from November 1 in transporting cargo from Europe for the NATO-led international coalition in Afghanistan, the Georgian company’s head, Giorgi Kodua, was quoted by the local media as saying.

Kodua said the measure is due to the Georgian economics ministry’s canceling the airline’s license authorizing it to transport the consignments, and they are now being transported on board Azerbaijani aircraft.

The government explained the decision by Sky Georgia’s operating Russian-made airplanes.

The airline had been involved in transporting NATO’s cargo to Afghanistan for two years.
