Azeri soldier wounded by mine blast
An Azerbaijani soldier was wounded by an anti-infantry mine on Monday afternoon on the contact line with Armenian troops near Azerbaijan’s Aghdam region.
19-year-old Elvin Guluzada was hospitalized and is in severe condition, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory has been under Armenian occupation since the two South Caucasus republics signed a precarious cease-fire in 1994 following a lengthy war. OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far and sporadic clashes on the frontline continue.
