Joe Biden believes Baku is located somewhere in Iraq – report
US Vice President Joe Biden makes mistakes and demonstrates his ignorance of Middle East geography, Azerbaijan’s Trend news agency reported referring to British newspaper The Independent.
According to the newspaper, Biden even tried to win the hearts of Iraqis by referring to the US achievement in building hospitals in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic located on the Caspian Sea at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, and apparently believes the city is located somewhere in Iraq.
Republican candidates in the presidential election have been denigrated and discredited by gaffes like this. It is a measure of Biden's reputation for overlong, tedious speeches that the US media did not notice his ignorance of Middle East geography.
