Azeri paper editor detained on fraud charges
Editor of an Azerbaijani newspaper based in Ganja has been arrested on charges of fraud, according to the city’s police department.
Habil Allahyarov, editor-in-chief of Duz Khabar (Accurate News) newspaper, which operates in Azerbaijan’s second largest city, received money from several families of war victims, promising to provide them with housing, and failed to deliver on his promise, investigators said. Allahyarov is also said to have taken money from several other persons after pledging to arrange their employment.
