Azeri officer killed in ceasefire breach
An Azerbaijani army officer was killed in a ceasefire violation by Armenian armed forces on Wednesday, according to Azerbaijan’s defense ministry.
Lieut. Emin Aliyev, 25, was shot dead after Armenian troops opened fire in Azerbaijan’s occupied Khojavand region.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory has been under Armenian occupation since a precarious cease-fire was signed in 1994 following a lengthy war.
