Nancy Pelosi responds to Azeris’ appeal over US aid to Armenia
U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, known as an arduous supporter of the Armenian diaspora, has replied to the Azerbaijani community representatives’ appeal over the United States’ assistance provided to Armenia, Azerbaijan’s long-time foe, the Baku-based APA news agency reported.
Nancy Pelosi said in her letter that the 2012 draft budget, proposed by President Barack Obama, envisions assistance worth $44.3 million to Armenia and $21.4 million for Azerbaijan. The funds aim to promote regional stability and US diplomatic efforts seeking to facilitate a settlement to the long-standing Nagorno Karabakh conflict between the two South Caucasus republics, Pelosi wrote.
